You'll hear "end-to-end encrypted" everywhere these days, so here's what it actually means for you, in plain words. The instant you write or share something, it's scrambled into unreadable code on your own device - before it ever leaves your hands. It only turns back into words on the screen of a fellow member you've shared it with. Everywhere in between, it stays sealed.

Picture your message passing through a series of gates on its way. Here's exactly who can see what at each one:

Sealed from everyone but the members you share with: your posts, photos and videos, captions, comments, direct messages, the posts you save and your private notes, your profile story, offerings and links - and your name, headline and profile photo too.

The little that stays readable to the servers - only so the app can actually work - is the realm a post or profile belongs to, plus plain housekeeping like the time something was posted. That's where the line sits today, and we keep moving more of it behind the seal as we grow.

One honest note: encryption keeps outsiders out, but it can't stop a fellow member from screenshotting something they've already been shown - no app truly can. So treat what's shared here as held in confidence between trusted sovereigns. Honoring that is part of the culture, and it's one of the refinements we'll keep sorting out together as we grow.

Sovereign Signal can gently notify you when a sovereign friend reaches out - a private message, a response to your work, or a note of appreciation. No algorithmic noise; only the people you're connected to.

You'll be asked once to allow notifications, and you can switch them on anytime from your profile. On iPhone, add Sovereign Signal to your Home Screen first (Safari → Share → "Add to Home Screen"), then open it from that icon to enable them - an Apple requirement for web apps.

Most platforms own you. They read your content, sell it, feed it to algorithms, and can erase your account or your reach the moment your views fall out of favor. Sovereign Signal is built on the opposite principles.

1. No de-platforming. There is no algorithm and no corporate gatekeeper here. You will never be silenced, throttled, or banned for your perspective on health, parenting, politics, spirituality, or anything else. The only authority is our shared respect for one another.

2. Truly private. Because everything is end-to-end encrypted, your content can't be read, mined, advertised against, or quietly handed over - not by us, not by the servers, not by anyone. We can't betray your trust because we never hold your unlocked words in the first place.

3. Built to endure. Accounts get banned. Platforms shut down. Algorithms bury reach overnight — and everything built there can vanish with it. Sovereign Signal is sovereign & decentralized by design: if we're ever forced offline, the network rebuilds, and your community and content come with you.

4. Your Sovereign HQ. Every member holds their own HQ here — profile, community, points, and activity, fully theirs. Creators can extend it into a Beacon: a branded space to teach, sell, or share, entirely on their own terms — their price, their content, their name. And all data inside your Beacon is one click away from download to your device, so nothing is ever lost.

Practically, your part is simple but vital: keep your password and your 12-word recovery phrase safe. They are the keys that only you hold - the foundation of a space no one can quietly take from you.

We're always strengthening this foundation. Our domain is already held privately through Njalla - a privacy-first registrar that keeps our identity off the public record and the name itself harder to take. From there we keep moving toward fully sovereign hosting and decentralized infrastructure as we grow - a living act of taking our digital home into our own hands.

We are all sovereigns here. Treat one another accordingly and respectfully.

Blatant disrespect, malice, pornography, and political ranting or debate have no place in this space. Any of it tells me plainly that you do not belong here, and you will be removed without discussion - it is that simple. This is a sanctuary for Sovereigns, and true Sovereigns need no such reminder; that it must be said at all is only for the rare exception who wandered in by mistake.

If something here breaks the one rule, you can quietly raise a disturbance in the field - our gentle word for reporting. It's the way we keep this sanctuary clear without anyone playing policeman.

How to raise one: on any post by another member, tap the small flag in the row of icons beneath it (beside the like, comment and share). For a comment, the same flag appears beside it. You can also flag a member's profile or a private message. You won't see a flag on your own content - there's no need to report yourself.

What happens next: the report is sent privately to the Council. They can see who raised it, but the member you flagged never can - it stays anonymous to them. The flagged content is quietly tucked out of sight while it's reviewed. The Council can then restore it, remove it, or remove the member - always guided by the one rule.

Here's the part that matters for your privacy: the Council does not hold a key to your content. When you flag something, your own device re-seals just that one item and splits the key across the safety stewards so that no single person can open it. Unsealing a flagged item now requires two stewards to co-sign together - any two of the Founder, the Steward of Security, and the Steward of the Signal. No one steward, not even the founder, can ever read flagged content alone. The servers still can't read a thing, and the rest of the Council sees only that a report exists, never the content itself.

Every post belongs to a realm, and so does your profile. Choose the realm your gift or work most reflects - not merely the business category it technically falls under. This keeps our realms clean and meaningful, so every member can find exactly what they came for.

For example: if you're a professional artist, choose Art - even though your art is your business. Choose the realm that captures the essence of what you offer, not just how you earn from it.

Honoring the realms is an act of respect for the whole community. It gives every member control over what they see - so you can view Matrix (News) only when you intend to, find Art when you seek inspiration, sit with Numerology / Astrology when you're called to, and so on. The realms are gathered into a few groups to keep them easy to navigate.

Sovereign Signal is invite-only. Entry is by a key - a short, memorable word code (like RIVER-EMBER) - followed by an application and Council approval. A key opens the door to apply; it never skips the welcome.

Your personal key. When member invites are open, you'll find your own key on your profile under "Invite Sovereigns" - one is ready for you, and you can create a personalized one. Share your link and the sovereigns who join through it are quietly counted as yours.

Each newcomer stays their own. A key only lets someone in - it is not an encryption key. Every member still generates their own private keys and 12-word recovery phrase at signup, held by them alone.

Every key is unique across the whole community, so invitations are never crossed and each welcome is honored to the one who extended it.

Ready to teach, sell, or share a body of work? A Beacon Profile is your own creator space inside Sovereign Signal - organize videos, audio, art, written lessons and live sessions into a beautiful, personalized home, and offer them to fellow members by monthly subscription, or freely.

You keep 100% of your price (SovSig takes just 1%), you're paid directly, and you can open a shareable public teaser to invite the world in.

A word on privacy here, so nothing's over-promised. A Beacon has a public teaser that's meant to be seen by the whole world - so anything you mark public is, by design, not private. But your subscriber-only teachings are encrypted on your device with a key unique to your Beacon: the server only ever stores ciphertext and can't read them, and only your active subscribers can unlock them. A Hearth (a private community inside your Beacon) is encrypted and unreadable to our servers too, but it uses a shared community key - so treat both a Beacon and a Hearth as private and access-controlled among their members, rather than one-to-one secret like a direct message. Your DMs remain the most private surface of all.

Beyond our own Signal flows the Conscious Stream - a curated current of videos and writings from voices worth your attention, gathered from across the wider web. Think of it as a hand-tended reading and watching room, kept clear of noise, algorithms, and outrage-bait.

Watched privately. When you browse the Stream, every thumbnail is relayed through our own server first, so YouTube and Google never see your device, your location, or what you're looking at. Videos play through a no-tracking player, and articles open with a gentle reminder that you're stepping off Sovereign Signal.

Why it's separate from the Signal. The Stream is public by nature - these are already-public videos and articles, so they're not end-to-end encrypted like your own posts and messages. It stays deliberately apart from your private Signal. The moment something moves you, share it into a realm and it becomes a normal encrypted post - opening a private, sovereign conversation around it, right here among us.

The Council curates the sources; the Stream refreshes itself throughout the day. If there's a channel, publication, or voice you feel belongs here, send it to the Council and we'll consider adding it.

Sovereign Signal is not on the App Store - by design. Staying off the centralized app stores keeps us more decentralized, private, and sovereign: no corporate gatekeeper can review, restrict, or remove us, and no third party sits between you and this space.

Instead, add Sovereign Signal straight to your phone's home screen. It opens full-screen and behaves just like a native app - same icon, same feel, none of the gatekeeping.
